One yoga & meditation studio
Yoga studio interior. Magic of light.
On a busy boulevard, a 160 m2 glass and concrete building houses a compact yoga studio.
To the right of the entrance there is a wardrobe and a meditation room, decorated with a dodecahedron lamp that casts magical shadows on the walls.
A circle printed on a gold textured surface is integrated into the center of the rough plastered wall of the small hall.
To the right of the entrance there is a reception, a modest chill-out and the entrance to a large hot yoga room.
The studio’s two dressing rooms are marked with light projections.
The most noticeable thing about the hot yoga room is the central column, on both sides of which there are paired light installations. The inconvenient location of the load-bearing column right in the middle of the large hall was so successfully compensated by the eye-catching colored light streams, which have become iconic for the studio – from a defect in the room this column turned into a favorite place for insta-photos.
Two walls of the large hall are occupied by mirrors; on the third wall there is a luminous inscription-affirmation, referring to the name of the studio.
The main idea of the design and the emphasized variety of lighting scenarios was to create an atmosphere of inner concentration and calm, so that the light contained within us is manifested outside.
The entire right side of the studio is designed in a warm color scheme: earth colors and tactile surfaces set the mood for meditation and mindfulness transformation. The golden circle on the wall is a real eye-catcher; it was this shot that the studio owners unanimously chose as the title to present the studio at the Feel design competition.
The left side of the studio is painted in cool colors, which become richer in the hot yoga room, where classes are held at about 38 C.
All 4 display windows of the studio, facing the space of the shopping and business center, are bursting with images of mandalas and the tree of life, composed of open palms and mandalas depicting the crown of a tree.
Each element of the design was drawn by me, the studio designer, which subsequently inspired me to create original prints for lamps and fabrics.
It’s amazing how atmospheric and cozy the ONE yoga studio turned out to be – it has become a real haven from the hustle and bustle of the city, a quiet oasis in which everyone can concentrate on working with their own body, find peace and concentration in meditation.
