Mandala. Elements and symbols

As I draw each of the “mandala” elements, I think of the meaning they have in different cultures and in a general, global sense for us all.

Fish is the element of water and a sign of the early Christianity.

Turtle is a symbol of longevity and slow contemplation of life, the support of the earth in the ancient perception of the world.

Butterfly is a euphemism for fleeting beauty; Lao Tzu’s dream.

Chameleon – a variability and an adaptability.

Frog promises wealth and good luck.

Dragonfly is a symbol of power in Japanese culture, an art that I admire endlessly and prefer among other cultures.

Cicada is a symbol of the immortality among the Chinese.

Bird symbolises the sky, flight and freedom.

And, of course I thought about the Venetian fabrics “sciamiti”, “grottesche” and “damasco”, which Paolo Veronese painted so beautifully.

All elements of the pattern are connected in a circle – thus creating a perfect symbol of recurrent reality and a never-ending movement.

It’s amazing how the modern interpretation of the theme “timeless” allows one to find a point of view that keeps it always relevant.

From small elements, as in a mosaic, the overall canvas is painstakingly collected together, where the multicolor becomes subordinated to the overall color tone.

The pattern exists in 2 versions.

Printing on velour, blackout fabric and gabardine.
