The Pillar Lamp III – The Wind Valley

My creation is a 5.3-foot-tall lamp pillar made entirely of recyclable cardboard. To design the intricate patterns, I used Procreate and edited them as vectors in Illustrator. I then employed laser printing techniques to print out each piece, which I assembled into one cohesive unit. Finally, I spray painted the pillar in black.

This lamp is highly versatile and adjustable. Placing the lamp inside the hollow structure allows the patterns to cast beautiful shadows on the walls and ceiling, creating a peaceful and serene ambiance. Alternatively, you can place the lamp outside and adjust its position to create unique shadow patterns with different parts of the pillar.

My inspiration for this piece comes from the Korean traditional patterns and was inspired by the beautiful valley that I often walk through in Michigan where the wind blows the grass and the clouds, creating a breathtaking dance that always catches my eye.

Overall, I hope this lamp will not only serve as a functional piece of decor but also evoke feelings of tranquility and beauty.
