Duo Cafe Inc.
About Project
Duo Café is the sister boutique to Duo Patisserie which is known to produce the best croissants in Toronto, Canada. With its myriad of different textures, layers, and handcrafted details, a walnut-toned space in Duo Café is harmonized with many layers and textures resembling the baked croissant as a design motif throughout.
With a modest footprint spanning 3,200 square feet, Duo Café features an on-site ice cream, chocolate, patisserie, and baking area with general seating. Inspired by the colours, layers and textures of a baked croissant, the design blends authentic café style with a hint of luxury. The café’s enduring qualities are conveyed using timeless materials including wood, metals and quartz that were applied throughout the furnishings and custom millwork to create a classic look.
The delectable pastries and artisanal products are considered an artwork itself; therefore, the countertops in those areas are wrapped with a shade of white as a blank canvas for the artist.
Duo Café celebrates the finest of ingredients and design artistry in a mesmerizing dance of textures and flavours. It also embodies the exemplary café experience in a warm and welcoming environment. From the CNC cut feature panel and substantial display unit protected by the starphire curved glass to the beautifully detailed furnishings, the space echoes the pastries which demonstrate precision. Soft curves in the space are inviting to the guest to explore the infinite layers ahead.
The delicate flavours and layers of the pastries are embodied throughout the space. The feature panel, which is cut into Duo Café’s brand pattern, draws one’s attention to focus their eyes on the beautifully displayed items. It also acts as a mysterious divider which allows their guests to enjoy the food while they can see fresh artisanal pastries being brought out each time.
The impressive, curved display counter resonates from the CNC panel to the starphire glass, to the classic marble tables and to the rose-gold lighting accent feature above. The timeless and classic design elements reflect the pastries itself.
Duo Café’s large glass window creates a sense of open-kitchen concept that is framed by the walnut-coloured wood panels. This allows guests to engage and appreciate the true craftsmanship of the artisanal goods. The walnut-coloured wood panels continue throughout the entire wall and are applied over the doors to create a seamless look.
Lighting plays an important role in highlighting important features such as the countertops and display areas. All the products shine brightly under the use of these accent light fixtures which stimulate the five senses.
The open dining area is anchored by Duo Café’s featured panel and display units that are wrapped in warm wood and smooth quartz. Both unique and inviting in nature, Duo Café infuses an incomparable vivacity to their guests.
